Become A More Attentive Driver | Cash for Cars Atlanta

Most everyone knows that distractions are a leading cause of car accidents in the U. S.  Some of us don’t even realize that we are actually driving distracted. So how can you become a more attentive driver? Here a few simple things you can do to keep your focus on the road:

Keep Your Hands On The Wheel: As tempting as it may be to fix your make up, eat a burger or hold your cell phone for a quick conversation, it’s not worth the risk. If a sudden threat arises on the road, you need to be ready to react quickly, so your hands need to stay on the wheel.

Use Handsfree Devices: If you do make a call or send a text while driving, you should always use a handsfree device and  voice command features. That way your eyes can stay on the road the whole time.

Use A Windshield Mount For Any In-Car Devices: Many of us are dependent on our GPS and other devices when we are driving. Be sure they are always placed in a mount on the windshield. Looking down to view a device for even just a second can lead to an accident.

Stay focused and safe on the road.  Try to minimize your distractions and keep driving the top priority.  If you have had an accident in your car, we will buy your damaged or wrecked vehicle. Is "La - La Land" The Biggest Distraction On The Road? | Cash for Cars Atlanta

According to King5.com, a recent analysis of crash data by Erie Insurance found a surprising result in what distracts drivers most. No, it’s not texting, talking on the phone or eating food.  They found it to be day dreaming.

Drivers simply becoming lost in thought accounts for the overwhelming majority of distracted driver accidents.  Daydreaming can be extremely dangerous behind the wheel of the car. When your mind wanders threats multiply because:

1. You are minimally aware of your surroundings
2. Your car may veer out of your lane without you even noticing it
3. You are not focused on other drivers or potential dangers on the road

I’m sure no one purposely daydreams while driving, but simply being aware of it’s prevalence and danger may help to reduce the occurrences of this hazardous behavior. Try your best to stay focused and alert when you are driving and actively keep your mind on the road.

Don't Drive Distracted!

Just driving in and of itself is a dangerous task. Driving distracted amplifies that danger more than you know.  You significantly increase the risk of  injury (or even  death) of yourself and/or others when you drive distracted.  It seems as technology branches out, the more distractions we potentially face.  Here are some of the top distractions drivers face:

1. Music: Changing radio stations or CDs, adjusting volumes or just singing along to the music to intensely.

2. Cell Phones: Texting, talking, checking emails or playing games.

3. Passengers: Looking at them, talking with them or arguing with them.

4. TVs: Watching TV or movies through a permanently installed device, a cell phone or portable player.

5. Eating: Snacking, dropping food on yourself, eating your meal from the drive thru or trying to feed your kids.

Engaging in any of these activities when driving can be deadly. We have to take distracted driving seriously, as it is a leading cause of traffic accidents.  Any conversation, text, phone call, meal or TV show can wait until our driving is complete.  The best, and only place, your eyes should be is on the road.

Stay safe and drive carefully. When you are ready to sell your car, let us know and we can help. We offer cash for cars!
